Jack Paar was a talk-show host. Archive footage of the real man appears in the first season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and he is later portrayed by an uncredited actor in the fifth season. Additionally, he is referenced in dialogue throughout the fifth season, as his show is one of the primary competitors of The Gordon Ford Show.
S1E4 - Abe expresses his distaste for Jack Paar during an argument about getting a second television. He eventually relents, but later recants when Midge comes in late. Midge wistfully watches Jack Paar on her neighbour’s television through the window, making her realize that she needs to get a job.
S1E4 - Susie takes Midge to an off-the-grid shithole and tells her “you will never see Jack Paar represented here.”
S2E3 - Midge makes a quip about Brian Petrusca’s speech at his daughter’s wedding being good enough to get on Jack Paar.
S5E7 - Mike tells Susie that he managed to get Midge a good slot in a talent showcase for Jack Paar.
S5E7 - Jack and his booker, Pete, watch Midge perform as part of a talent showcase. She kills, but Pete refuses to book her, saying that he just doesn’t “get” her.
ABE: I don't like Jack Paar. There are jugglers on Jack Paar.
