S4E4 - Determined to get Susie to open up about her love life, Midge goes down to Christopher Street to try and learn where she can find a lesbian bar. She stops at a park and tries to accost each passerby, but they all brusquely ignore her. The only people who even talk to her are a smartly-dressed man who initially does not understand what she's getting at, then quickly brushes her off when he does, and another man who calls her a cop. Frustrated, she sits down on a bench in the park. After a moment's silence, Lazarus, a mysterious older man in a fabulous Dior suit with a yellow carnation in his lapel begins talking to Midge, and ultimately gives her the information she needs.

MIDGE: What? No, I'm not a cop. This is Dior! Excuse me. I am not a cop. I have a record. Hi. I'm not a cop. I was just wondering… Hello. I am not a cop. I was won… Hello. Not a cop. I was just wondering… Hi. I'm not a cop. I'm not… Not a cop. I… I am not a cop.
LAZARUS: So, you have a friend?
MIDGE: I'm sorry?
LAZARUS: I believe you were making an inquiry for a friend?
MIDGE: Oh. Yes. I was. My friend. Yes. I was just wondering if maybe…
LAZARUS: I know two or three places you might be looking for.
MIDGE: You do? Oh, that would be wonderful.
LAZARUS: And I assume there is no friend.
MIDGE: No, there is a friend. Really.
LAZARUS: If you insist.
MIDGE: I do. She is.
LAZARUS: Okay. And this friend, i-is she like you?
MIDGE: Me?
LAZARUS: Yeah.
MIDGE: Well, anatomically.
LAZARUS: Does she dress like you?
MIDGE: Like me? Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. She definitely does not. (laughs) Sorry. I was just picturing her in my kumquat daisy dress with reverse pattern hat. (laughs) It's good. Oh, God, the corset. (laughs)
LAZARUS: So it's not a very good friend.
MIDGE: No, it is. (exhales) Sorry. Mm. Sorry. I'm back.
LAZARUS: I missed you.
MIDGE: You were saying?
LAZARUS: There's this new place. It just opened. I hear it's very welcoming to a mixture of different attires. It's right on…
MIDGE: Wait. Go ahead. Oh, is it okay if I write this down?
LAZARUS: You're gonna have to eat that paper later. A joke. It's right up…
MIDGE: Wait. You're not a cop, are you?
LAZARUS: This is Dior, too.
MIDGE: Ooh.
