S2E4 - Pauly stops by the Weissman house to let Midge know that she won’t be allowed to compete in the annual swimsuit competition, but will instead be handing out the sash.
S2E4 - At the orientation ceremony, Pauly introduces himself, points out the Steiner newsletter, and passes the mic off to Buzz Goldberg for the customary welcome song. After that’s over, Pauly tries to make some concluding remarks, but is interrupted by Joel who gets up on stage and tries to clear the air about his and Midge’s breakup.
S2E4 - At the opening night dinner, Pauly thanks the band, then watches as Buzz announces the annual dance competition.
S4E3 - Midge, Abe, Rose, Moishe, Shirley, Joel and Susie attend the Broadway premiere of “They Came, They Danced” at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. After the show, the Maisels and Weissmans attend an invite-only after-party in the theatre lobby, along with many of their fellow Steinerites. Pauly and Abe reminisce about how far they've come with Buzz.
S4E3 - The Maisels and Weissmans attend Akiva Bergman's bar mitzvah. Also in attendance are Pauly (with his wife), Stevie (with her husband and children) and Edie (with her sister). During the penultimate aliyah man's performance, the family begins to pick up on a hostile air directed towards them. Rabbi Huebsche keeps glancing angrily towards Abe and making barbed remarks. Eventually, the tension boils over and Abe learns that they are angry at him for trashing Buzz's play in the Village Voice. Pauly, Stevie, Edie, the Rabbi, and an older woman seated behind them all go in particularly hard on Abe. Eventually, he agrees to leave so that the proceedings can continue, but not before warning them that his honesty will continue.
Quotes & Dialogue
PAULY: Welcome back to Steiner Mountain Resort. Your home away from home.
– S2E4
PAULY: Now, most of you know me, but for those who don't, I'm Pauly Auerbach, just beginning my 18th fabulous year as your Steiner executive director. And, oh, boy, I'm gonna have a heart attack from all the exciting activities we got planned for you this season! Now, each of you will find a Steiner newsletter under your seat, Issue Number One for 1959. And if you think you notice a fun new font, you're not wrong. Good eye.

PAULY: How about our boy, huh? He had such big dreams, but who knows from dreams…
ABE: A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight.' Oscar Wilde.
PAULY: And now look at me - a bigshot financial investor in Buzz's dreams.
ABE: Pauly - you macher!
PAULY: It's a small slice, but the thing is - you hear that song, you take out your wallet.
– S4E3
PAULY: Abe Weissman - you stood there, sipping champagne, making small talk, quoting Oscar Wilde, hugging Buzz, toasting Buzz… All while holding the knife of Cain behind your back.
ABE: Oh, Pauly, don't be so dramatic.
PAULY: You're the only one who can speak truth?
ABE: Truth, huh? Truth? Well, there's nothing in the Hebrew Bible indicating that Cain killed Abel with a knife. So much for your truth.
PAULY: Yes, there is. The Book of Genesis, Cain killed Abel, and it's implied it was with a knife.
ABE: Rabbi, chime in here.
HUEBSCHE: The Torah says that Cain was a worker of the ground.
ABE: Exactly, so it was most likely a hoe or a trowel. He didn't carry a knife.
PAULY: And not that you care, but my hard-earned nest egg is kaput!
ABE: You said you invested a small slice, Pauly. Don't exaggerate for effect!
PAULY: Small for the show - big for me!
